Women for Women International

Women for Women International provides female survivors of war with micro-credit loans, skills, education, and moral support.
Women for Women International is an award-winning global organization with an important goal: to help female survivors of war. In Eastern Europe, Women for Women International works in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in Kosovo. The programs implemented by Women for Women International give women in these areas affected by war and ethnic cleansing the opportunities to support themselves financially, learn new skills, and become educated about issues affecting their lives.
In addition, sponsoring women communicate via letter with their "sisters" - this gives women who have been struggling to survive the knowledge that others are supportive of their efforts to improve their own lives and the lives of their families. The business ventures are small - from selling crochet work to milking cows - but they mean a great deal to the women whose lives they have transformed.
