The discovery of two skeletons have been identified as Alexei and Maria Romanov. All of the Romanovs executed in Ekatrinburg have now been accounted for.

No doubt that, even though the two missing bodies of the Romanovs have been found, there will still be speculation about a surviving member of the Russian royal family. For most of us, the mystery is closed, and for those who have searched so long to find answers about what happened to the two Romanov children who were not found buried with the family, it must come as a relief to know now that all bodies have been accounted for.

Russian scientists have identified the two previously missing bodies as Alexei, the tsarevich, and Maria, the oldest of the Romanov daughters. The gravesite also contained vessals which may have carried sulphuric acid, which Bolsheviks used to destroy the bodies they buried in a pit in the woods in 1918.
