The Rusyns, never having known a nation all their own, nonetheless claim a homeland that crosses many borders. While they take their name from an association with Kievan Rus (an area that is now Ukraine), they have and do live in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and other Eastern European countries as well. The Carpatho-Rusyn Society provides this map of the Rusyn homeland.
This ethnic group may not be known to many, but by their shared language, history, and culture, they keep commonalities alive.
