Yugoslavia's Political HistoryThe country that has been a kindgom, federation, and socialist republic since 1918 once comprised Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Macedonia.Yugoslavia history is brief and complex. What makes research about it confusing is the many name changes that have occured throughout Yugoslavia's history.
Yugoslavia, or "Land of the South Slavs" has had a tumultuous history. In fact, versions of Yugoslavia have been typically short-lived since the first creation of the country in 1918. Yugoslavia had many incarnations throughout the better part of the 20th century. With the recent declaration of independence by Serbia and Montenegro, the last vestiges of Yugoslavia have ceased to exist.
